Louise Munro is a psychologist working in Brisbane, Australia, and first registered in 1989 with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Authority) as a registered nurse. In 1999 Louise completed a bachelor of social science with an honours in psychology and registered with AHPRA as a psychologist. Louise currently holds AAPi membership and is an academic member of the ACA. Louise has working proficiency in Auslan but is not fluent and will always use an accredited Auslan interpreter in sessions with Auslan users and their families.
Louise has completed PhD research in counselling and was the course coordinator and lecturer for the QUT Master of Counselling program from 2010-2020. In 2008 Louise completed a three year contract position assisting in the establishment of Australia's only Centre for Excellence in Deafness and Mental Health based at the Princess Alexandra Hospital
Professionally, Louise uses recovery frameworks that focus on competency-based and constructionist strategies. These include, narrative therapy, solution focused therapy, psycho-education, cognitive behavioural strategies, skills training, and reflecting teams. Louise has recently started accepting Deaf adult clients for ADHD assessments.
Louise has presented her research and facilitated training internationally. Research methods include both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis for government, non-government, and community organisations.
